Active School Flag

We are delighted to be working towards and promoting the values of the Active School Flag in Cloughfin National School. Promoting positive wellbeing is central to our school community, and we strive to create an environment where physical activity is valued, encouraged, and enjoyed by all pupils.

Our aim is to continue building a physically educated and physically active school community where every child has the opportunity to participate and succeed.

The Active School Flag focuses on four key areas:

· Physical Education

· Physical Activity

· Partnerships

· Active School Week

The overall aim is to encourage schools to become more active, more often, while developing lifelong healthy habits for all pupils.

Active School Committee

Our Active School Committee plays a very important role in promoting physical activity and encouraging pupils to stay active throughout the school year at Cloughfin National School. The committee members have shown great leadership and enthusiasm by supporting many of our Active School initiatives. They have helped as Playground Leaders by organising games and activities during break times, encouraging all pupils to get involved and stay active. They also led groups during Active School Week, supported our “Skip Around the World” challenge, and helped pupils take part in our Active Walkway activities.

Our School Slogan

The committee worked together with pupils and staff to create our school slogan

“Don’t be lazy, let’s get crazy!”

which promotes fun, fitness, and positive participation in physical activity.

Surveys

 They also carried out surveys throughout the school to find out what sports and club pupils are involved in outside of school. This information will help us continue to improve and expand the sporting opportunities available in our school in the future pupils are involved in outside of school.
